Before going to the mountains during the summertime, I also enjoyed doing spur of the moment photoshoots in random locations near my hometown when spring began. I recall calling my model and asking her if she wanted to just drive around, go to a local mall, and see what photos we could take. Thankfully, she accepted the invitation and off we went!
Instead of going to the local mall though, we decided to stop by a run down bike trail that was underneath a field, with a lot of blooming flower trees. We also found a beautiful black and white mural. We decided to give street photography a shot, played with some flowers, and see what photos we could capture!
I still couldn't afford any amazing photo editing softwares, so I was still using free softwares like GIMP and Google's Picasa to see what I could do with these images. This quick side project was more for me to experiment with/interpret cinematic color grading into my photos. I have always enjoyed very crisp, vibrant, and defined colors in photographs, and I wanted to try it out for myself! Even though a few of these were taken in very random locations, they ended up looking incredibly clean and contemporary.
I wanted to show a contrast between the soft femininity that spring blooms provide with the structural aesthetic you see when you go out on the town. I also wanted to play with depth of field in the floral shots. This photoshoot really didn't have an end goal or meaning, but it was definitely fun to keep learning more about my DSLR, and my editing skills.
